The Higher Choir: "Set your heart on the higher gifts, on the things that come from your Maker in heaven. These three gifts are all that remain: faith, hope and love, and the greatest is love."

Our Youth Choir has a new name: "The Higher Choir." Fifteen young people, age 8-15, are meeting on Mondays to serve God with their musical gifts. Taking verses from Paul's first letter to the Christians of Corinth, St. Gregory's young choristers have chosen a name that reflects their mission: to strive for the higher gifts, to love each other, serve their church, and share Christ's love with others. Today, The Higher Choir will help lead liturgy at the noon Mass, singing and playing ChoirChimes. Please pray for these young people as they develop caring relationships and learn - by doing - service to their church.

Music Ministry at Saint Gregory's

An invitation to all returning members, new members and those who would like to give it a try!

Adult Choir, which includes grades 9-12 and adults, meets Thursday nights at 7:15-8:45 PM. They generally sing at the 9:00AM liturgy on Sundays.

Youth Choir and Chimes, which includes children in grades 3-8, plus girls through grade 12, meets Monday evenings at 5:30-6:45 PM. They sing at various liturgies throughout the year.

Contemporary Ensemble is a new group comprising guitarists, singers and other instrumentalists who will meet most Sundays at 10:30-11:30 AM. They will most often lead noon liturgies.

Funeral Choir is a new group open to anyone who wishes to support the cantor as a group at funeral liturgies. They would meet 45 minutes before a funeral Mass to run through the assembly's music. Ability to climb the choir loft steps may not be necessary! All ages are welcome.

Schola is open to Saint Gregory School students in grades 4-8. They give up one recess period a week to prepare for monthly school liturgies.

Adult ChoirChimes is open to high schoolers and adults. The group will decide upon the best way to rehearse: weekly, on Monday or Wednesday nights, or on an "as needed" basis. This group has been very small and we would love to grow into 12 members this year.

Cantors must be willing to sing alone and enliven the assembly singing with their presence. They usually learn music on their own and rehearse with the accompanist before their scheduled liturgies.

Instrumentalists who are not in the Contemporary Ensemble will be scheduled for rehearsing for particular liturgies. Players must have their own instrument and be competent musicians.

Please contact Jamie at j.k.dean@hotmail.com or the rectory (725-9691) with any questions.
